TOMOAKI IWAKURA 岩倉具輝
Tomoaki Iwakura is a Japanese cinematographer who works — and thinks — in both English and Japanese.
After studying at Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia — where he earned an MFA in Film and Television — he spent 7 years working in Los Angeles before returning to Japan. Since then, he has shot internationally across Mexico, Taiwan, Thailand, Romania, and beyond.
Translating a director's vision across languages and cultures is never simple. That's something he knows from experience — and it's shaped the way he listens, asks questions, and makes decisions on set.
Iwakura works primarily as a Director of Photography across feature films, commercials, and music videos — and is available as a B-camera operator when the project calls for it.
His value on set goes beyond the camera. He has served as interpreter for a French director's multi-year filmmaking workshop in Japan, and has moderated masterclasses led by visiting American cinematographers. When international and Japanese crews share a set, he knows how to bridge the gap — in language, in culture, and in the way a production moves.

ジョージア州のSavannah College of Art and Designにて映画・テレビの修士号（MFA）を取得後、ロサンゼルスで7年間活動。帰国後もメキシコ、台湾、タイ、ルーマニアなど国際的な現場での撮影を続けている。
監督のビジョンを異なる言語・文化を越えて映像に落とし込む。簡単ではないと知っているからこそ、対話を重ね、現場での判断を積み上げてきた。
映画・CM・ミュージックビデオにおいて撮影監督（DP）としてキャリアを積み、プロジェクトによってはBカメラオペレーターとしても対応する。
カメラの外でも現場に貢献する。フランス人監督による映像ワークショップの通訳を数年担当し、アメリカから招いた撮影監督のマスタークラス司会・調整も務めた。海外と日本のクルーが混在する現場で、言語・文化・制作スタイルの違いを越えて現場を機能させる。
